The Concept Art of Zombie Vikings – ZoinkDay #36

Every game starts out as an idea. A little spark, a feeling or maybe just a word. And from that – you start building something. Sometimes, you end up scrapping the whole thing. But other times, you end up with an actuall game. At times, it can be hard to see the reasemblence between early concept sketches and the final products, and other times, the process is easier to follow.

Today, I’d like to show you some concept art from Zombie Vikings (oh, and as we’re talking about changes; did you know that the game was called Zombie Kings in the beginning?). So I won’t be rambling on as much as I might usually do. Instead I’ll let the art speak for itself! Let’s start, shall we?

Different ideas for the great North Sea! Hope you like the end result as much as we do.

Not all level concepts make it into the game. Here’s Bifrost, the rainbow bridge between Midgard and Asgard. Pretty, right?

Our favorite kitty king! With his beloved kitty popsicle, of course.

All of the characters has gone through som major transformations. For exemple, Kaw-Caa was a fox queen in the beginning! Here’s an earlier version of Seagurd (or Seabjörn, as he was once called).

Could this be early sketches of Loki and Gunborg? And who do you think that third creature is?

A concept for Seagurds sparse fish village. Would you like to move in?

You should know, there are a lot more to grab where this come from! So if there’s any special part of the game you’re interested in – let me know and I’ll try to dig up some early art of it.

Until next time!
