We love having new additions to the office, and we kick off this year with not only one but two new interns – Niclas and André! To ease your curiosity, here’s a quickie of an interview with both of them. Enjoy!
Hi Niclas! Welcome to Zoink!
Hi! Thank you. It’s great to be here.
What are you gonna be doing here?
I will be working on [Secret Game] as a 3D artist. What I will be doing specifically, I’m not totally sure of yet, but I imagine it will be a lot of different stuff.
What made you wanna do your internship at Zoink? How did you learn about our existence?
I remembered Stick it to The Man! being a fun looking game with interesting features, and after looking up Zoink it seemed like a good company. So I applied.
What have you been doing prior to entering this oh-so-great office?
I was, and am still, a student at Future Games in Stockholm.
Important question: What is your favorite game?
Favorite game? Hardest question of them all. Without even trying to remember every game I’ve played: Journey and The last of us.
Journey makes my top list as well. So what do you hope to learn during your time with us?
I guess I just want to get the whole “working in a game studio” experience which is hard to get from an education.
Sounds like a lovely chap, ey? Let’s journey on and have a little talk with André!
Heya André! So, how come you wanted to intern with us?
I hadn’t really heard about Zoink! until I saw Fe at last year’s E3. I found it very interesting so I looked into Zoink Games to see what else you’d done. I got intrigued by what I saw and I really wanted to be part of such a creative team.
So what have you been doing before ending up here?
I studied digital media at Blekinge Institute of Technology. There I joined up with some friends developing an arena first-person shooter called Epigenesis. With this game, we won “Make something unreal 2013” and the “Game of the Year” category at Swedish Game Awards 2013. After that, I’ve been improving my 3D skills learning new software.
What makes you wanna work in the game industry?
Games have always been a big part of my life, giving me great experiences and friends. I want to work with what I love and have a passion for. I want to give others the same great experience I’ve had with games!
Last but not least: What’s your favorite game, and why?
This is a tough one. I have many favorite games across all kind of different genres. I love the story and character development in the Mass effect. I love the gameplay in Mega man and Ninja gaiden. I love the multiplayer aspect of Mario Kart and Smash. Picking out one specific game is hard, it all depends on what mood I’m in.
You’ll probably see more of these fellows in the upcoming months. And as always, if you have any questions for them, just ask and I’ll make them answer!
